Arizona Trip 2011

Guess what we've been up to???? We just got back from our trip to Arizona!!! Madeline, my husband, and I went to visit my dad for a week near Tucson. We saw LOTS of sights and enjoyed the nice warm weather!

A little bit different scenery than we're used to at home...

Our first day in Tucson we checked out Trail Dust Town. This place was so cute - made to look like an old western town. We went during the day when it wasn't really open since it's primarily an evening eating establishment but Madeline had a great time running around and checking the place out.

Grandpa Del who we were in Tucson visiting.

Me & Mads.

Madeline was dancing around and jumping in the gazebo. I thought it was so funny that I got a photo of her actually up in the air! Ha ha!

Madeline in the cart of an old bicycle.

Mads posing for a shot.

The second day we were there we checked out the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson. I really liked this zoo because it was smaller than our local zoo back home and the animals were nice and close to the walkways for easy viewing.

Checking out the elephant statue.

Checking out the giraffe. We actually got to feed a giraffe while we were there. It ate some carrots out of our hands! Neato!

Mads riding a train.

Another day we checked out Colossal Cave. It was Madeline's first time in a cave and we took the tour. She wasn't scared of the darkness of it at all. And it was amazing!

Neat crystals!

Madeline and I inside the cave. I think she was blinking when this one was taken.

Taking a rest on a step inside Colossal Cave.

Next stop was Chuy's for lunch! Madeline played her first pinball game.

My dad's brother, Uncle Al, joined us for the day.

I'm just happy to be there!

Another day at a local park Madeline enjoyed these awesome animal statues so I'm including a couple photos of them.

Have you ever sat on the trunk of an elephant???

My what a big tummy you have...

Hanging out in a tree...

Long fingers.

We also checked out the Tucson Children's Museum one day. The had lots of different hands-on exhibits for kids. Neat place.

Grocery store exhibit.

Smart girl, using the oven mittens to take her dinner out of the microwave!

You go girl!

Driving the fire truck.

And putting on a puppet show.

Playing the drums...

And again...

And again...she couldn't get enough of these drums!

And we even did some drawing. Madeline loves art!

Also during our stay we checked out the town of Tubac. There were lots of neat stores and art galleries to look through.

Grandpa and Madeline.

Madeline shopping.

Some of the colorful artwork in Tubac. These things were thousands of dollars!

Look at that stinker's face!

We also went to Tohono Chul Park in Tucson, which is one of Tucson's botanical gardens.

We had a wonderful visit to Arizona. Until next time....

A Friend's Birthday!

Madeline and I helped our friend Alyssa recently celebrate her 3rd birthday! She had two AMAZING cakes - one chocolate with pink buttercream frosting and the other chocolate with chocolate buttercream frosting. One word: Yummo!

They were so pretty too!

Madeline patiently waiting for some cake.

Alyssa enjoying hers.

Valentine's Day 2011 - Madeline's First Spa Day

Today for our Valentine's Day fun Madeline and I headed to Sugar and Spice Kids Salon for Madeline's first professional haircut. She also got her toenails and fingernails painted while we were there. She thought the place was pretty cool. So did I!

She didn't get much cut on the length just a little trim.

And they blew her hair dry.

"Oh my, don't I look cute!"

Here she is waiting to get her polish done. She was really excited about that part!

Getting her piggy's done.

And her nails. She was such a big girl sitting all nice.

Letting them dry.

Showing off her nails.

The back of her hair after her trim.

Just sitting there looking cute.

Afterwards I let her play on the chalkboard table.

She had fun drawing on the table.

More drawing.

And she even got a sucker!

It was such a cool place for kids and fun experience. So glad I took her there!
