Trip to the Zoo

Madeline and I took a trip to the zoo this past week with some friends. This was Madeline's second trip to the zoo. We went last summer with our playgroup but I'm sure she doesn't remember it. Being a year older she definitely got more out of it this time. She enjoyed seeing the animals and going on a train ride and carousel.
I'm a little disappointed that I didn't take more/better pictures of the animals but I went crazy with the kangaroos so I did include a couple pics of them. The kangaroo exhibit is really neat and they don't have the kangaroos in a cage so they can come right up to you and hop on the sidewalk, which they did. They do keep their distance from you though, they won't come up to you. The kids got a kick of watching them hopping on the sidewalk.

This guy was really eyeballing us. I think we were in his way and he wanted us to move.

Another one hopping across the sidewalk. These guys really hop fast!

We were guessing it was almost feeding time or something because they kept going over by this gate and waiting.

Madeline took her first little train ride.

Looking happy as she gets off the train after her ride.

Madeline hanging out in our friend's stroller. She was getting tired at this point and getting sassy.

Bird feeding time. In this exhibit they let us get close and personal with the birds as they were being fed. Mads got a kick out of this.

Checking out a big bear statue.

Grandma's April Visit

My mom came for a visit this weekend so we took Madeline to a local outdoor children's farm attraction. I'm sure I've blogged about this in the past but it's such a cute place with animals, playgrounds and such. Madeline got to feed the baby goats and we also took her on a hayrack ride.

Here's Madeline trying out the John Deere tractor.

Feeding the baby goats.

Madeline had so much fun teasing the goats with the bottle. She would let them drink a little then pull the bottle away and make them beg for it. Great fun!

She had a great time with the goats.

Taking a break on the rocking chair.

Madeline with a beautiful lilac bush. They smell so wonderful when they bloom!

Grandma reading the words on her shirt to Madeline. What a sweet moment between them...

Grandma helping Madeline smell the pretty flowers.

After our morning outing we picked up some new flowers before we headed home and Madeline helped Grandma plant them. Thank you Grandma... :)

Grandma Sharon got Madeline this great sand/water table this Spring. We're having so much fun playing with it! We like scooping...

And digging...

And pouring sand all over the place! Good fun!

With the nice weather Madeline's also getting to play with her outdoor playhouse again!

Saturday Easter Egg Hunt

Madeline and I had a wonderful day today with my mom, nephew, and husband at a local botanical garden. They had a Easter egg hunt and sidewalk chalk and bubbles for the children to play with. Plus we got to spend some time meandering through the gardens. And the weather was just perfect - sunny and high 60's!

Madeline was learning how to blow bubbles...

Waving the bubble wand in the air.

Drawing with sidewalk chalk.

On to the Easter egg hunt...

Madeline was a little slow but tenacious, she just kept on going!!!

Here she is with her full basket of eggs!

Showing off her loot!

After the egg hunt we checked out some flowers.

The grasses were taller than Madeline!

Pretty flowers...

Our latest thing is finding pine cones. Every time we go to the park we are hunting for them. Mads just thinks they are so cool!

Bring In The Bunnies...

Tonight we went to a local indoor playground for their Easter party. Madeline LOVED the live bunnies that they brought in for the kids to hold and pet. It was the highlight of our night. Of course the Easter Bunny himself made an appearance as well but Madeline wasn't quite sure of him. I couldn't even get a picture of Madeline with Mr. Cottentail. Boo!

Bunny kisses!

Madeline wanting to feed the bunny.

Ahhh, holding the bunny in her lap.

Watching another little girl hold a bunny.

Most of the bunnies were small but there was this one huge white bunny that they kept in it's cage.
